The Labor Relations team is responsible for the implementation of a positive and effective health system-wide labor relations program. The team develops collaborative relationships with the unions that represent employees at Michigan Medicine, including AFSCME Local 1583, U-M Skilled Trades Union, the University of Michigan Professional Nurse Council, and the U-M House Officers Association. The team promotes long- and short-term strategies by interpreting, administering, and negotiating collective bargaining agreements. In addition, the Labor Relations team provides education and guidance to Michigan Medicine supervisors, managers, and other leaders to ensure appropriate adherence to and application of collective bargaining agreements.
