Office of the Patient Civil Rights Coordinator

The Patient Civil Rights Coordinator oversees, facilitates and supports Michigan Medicine’s efforts to ensure equal opportunity for all patients regardless of race, color, national origin, age, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, religion, height, weight, or veteran status.

The Patient Civil Rights Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and monitoring compliance with federal civil rights requirements, including Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act. As part of those efforts, the Patient Civil Rights Coordinator oversees prevention efforts to avoid civil rights violations, implementing discrimination complaint procedures and investigating allegations of discrimination.
