Stay at Home order/ use of EPSLA time off bank update
Due to lifting of the Stay at Home executive order, effective Monday, June 8, the Emergency Paid Sick Leave (EPSLA / PEL) may no longer be used for “lack of work”. However, employees can use the COVID PTO issued in March for lack of work because there are still areas within Michigan Medicine and the University that cannot work at full capacity due to physical distancing.
Also, EFMLA is still allowed as long as the school/day care provider remains closed due to COVID-19. If the facility has opened, the employee cannot continue to use EFMLA.
COVID PTO bank
As a reminder, COVID PTO is available until the employee exhausts their 80-hour bank (or prorated amount for part-time employees), or the university declares the situation is no longer an emergency and the COVID PTO bank ceases.

COVID-19 Remaining Balance: Identifies the number of hours remaining in the original COVID-19 PTO bank. Run for March dates only, then subtract the March total from 80 (prorated for part-time employees) to find hours remaining of COVID-19 PTO.
