Michigan Medicine Timekeeper Update: Aug 6, 2020

Returning from leave

When returning employees from any unpaid leave of absence the effective date of their return that is requested on the PAR must be the first day they are actively working.

Shift Premium on HOM pay

When the holiday falls on a day off (employee worked all appointment hours during the holiday week), employees are still entitled to holiday pay at a pro-rated amount (8 times FTE). In these cases, the holiday pay is paid above appointment using the HOM code.

As a reminder HOM is eligible for shift premium pay (including weekend premiums) for full and part-time regular non-bargained for employees of the University of Michigan Health System (UMHS) and the Office of the Executive Vice President of Medical Affairs (Shared Services).

Bargained for staff should refer to their collective bargaining agreement for details on shift pay for holiday on an off day (HOM).
