U-M Health Timekeepers & Approvers Weekly Update: Thursday, Dec 2, 2021

December PTO/ vacation loads for AFSCME and Trades bargained for staff

AFSCME and Trades bargained for staff at Michigan Medicine and in the Washtenaw and Wayne County Coroners offices, who are active on December 1, 2021, will have 32 hours of PTO/ vacation hours pro-rated by FTE, added to their banks. The hours will be effective and available for use on November 28th, 2021.

The additional hours will be added after the December accrual loads. This gives the entire month of December to use any excess hours that exceed the maximum allowed balance in accordance with the respective bargaining agreements. Once January’s accrual is loaded, any hours that exceed the maximum allowed balance + one additional accrual, will be lost. Please remind employees of this so they can plan time off if needed.

This annual load of hours for these groups of bargained for employees is in lieu of the season days available to campus employees. Staff must be actively employed within a Michigan Medicine department on December 1 to be eligible.

Sell Back program

Employees who are eligible for PTO sell back should submit a sell back request form to their department timekeeper or supervisor starting January 1. However, it’s not too early to begin sharing the form with your department staff. All requests should be submitted to timekeepers by January 10 to allow time for data entry before the payroll cut-off date. Be sure to review the links below for program details and eligibility based on employee type.
