Critical Staffing Incentive Pay and Shift Premiums
Reminder: Staff who are eligible for and being paid under a Critical Staffing Agreement should still be paid their normal shift premium rates. They should not be paid the Double shift premium rates but instead paid the shift premium rates that match their base pay for the day.
For Example:
If they are being paid OTR (over appointment 1.0 rate) and HBR (high occupancy 1.0 rate) and eligible for Evening Shift Premium, the shift they receive should be ESA (evening shift 1.0 rate).
If they are being paid OTP (overtime 1.5 rate) and HBH (high Occupancy .5 rate) and eligible for Evening Shift Premium, the shift they receive should be ESB (evening shift 1.5 rate).
If your department has been paying the double shift premiums our standard for administrative errors is to go back one year and make corrections. You may do prior period adjustments on the timesheet in M-Pathways up to 6 months in arrears
Sell Back Reminder for May 2022
Employees who are eligible for PTO sell back should submit a sell back request form to their department timekeeper or supervisor no later than:
- Request Forms Due May 9, 2022 for biweekly paid employees
- Request Forms Due May 18, 2022 for monthly paid employees
Meeting these request deadlines will ensure timekeepers have enough time to process forms. These dates may not coincide with deadlines outlined in the PTO policy or collective bargaining agreements.
PTO Sell Back (PTB) should be reported in the following pay periods, preferably on a day with no other reported time:
- Biweekly: Pay Period 5/1 - 5/14
- Monthly: Pay Period 5/1 - 5/31
If for some reason the Sell Back hours are not reported (missed) before the appropriate payroll cut-off, you should report the hours as a prior period adjustment in the appropriate pay period (shown above) and allow the hours to pay out on the following paycheck.
