Departments that have employees using punch or webclock time entry are responsible for updating the Maintain Time Reporter page changing them from “Punch” to “Elapsed” if an employee transfers out of their department. This is especially important if they will be in a self-service or direct entry department.

Anytime a department requests an off-cycle check by sending a Payroll Correctionform over to our office, it is required that a Record Only Adjustment to Payable Time be performed in M-pathways to ensure accuracy for record keeping and future reporting purposes.

A situation came up where a temp had been paid via an off-cycle check several times and the Record Only Adjustments to payable time were not performed. Later, this same employee asked for a review of their hours worked in order to adjust their Seniority credit (MNA Nurse) but the hours were not there. Luckily the employee pushed back and caused a deeper investigation where it was discovered there were off-cycle paychecks paid and the payable time had not been adjusted in the system. This one had a happy ending but other cases may be missed.

The Schedule for 2023 Payroll cutoffs is now available on the Central Payroll website. Schedules are available for all biweekly, monthly, and off-cycle payrolls throughout the 2023 year. Also available are pay date calendars for 2023, which show the biweekly and monthly pay dates throughout the year, as well as the U-M designated holidays. Departments may find it helpful to print and display a calendar in common areas for staff.
