There is an important need to distinguish department based administrative teams that support the timekeeping, approval and GPR reconciliation processes as well as personnel change processes locally from the Michigan Medicine Human Resource (MMHR) teams that work with all departments at Michigan Medicine (MM).

Employees are often very confused and have a hard time figuring out which teams are department based and which ones are central offices that support all the MM departments.

On behalf of MMHR we are asking all departments to make necessary updates to their team names and to update email addresses to follow the guidance below for local departmental administrative teams.

Department based administrative teams that support the timekeeping and approval processes within their departments should refer to themselves as “Timekeeping Support”, “Timekeeping Assistant”,  or simply “Timekeeper” and not use “Payroll” as part of their nomenclature.

Department based administrative teams that support the faculty and staff appointment processes within their departments should refer to themselves as “Faculty and Staff Advisor”, “Staff Advisor”, or “Personnel Coordinator”, and not use “HR” or “Human Resources” as part of their nomenclature.

Having a consistent distinction between local departmental teams and those in the central HR department will streamline communications and reduce confusion for all of us in these roles at Michigan Medicine and for those seeking our assistance.
