Reminder: Time Off Award Program

Time Off Award is an existing program used to award and give recognition to non-union employees who exceed performance expectations of their department management and for whom additional time off is considered a valued method of recognition. To give an award supervisors use the  Time Off Award Certificate.

Guideline Provisions Include:

  • Reward/Recognition time-off may range from 15 minutes to 1 workday. Time off rewards are generally not expected to exceed 3 days per year, and in no case may the total time off for a year exceed 5 days (40 hours).
  • To ensure Time Off Awards do not exceed the outlined range, department managers should also maintain a record of reward/recognition time-off they have granted to their staff to monitor usage per employee per year.

The purpose of this reminder is to ensure all units/departments/supervisors who use this recognition tool are tracking the hours given each year and following the Time Off Award Recognition Program Guidelines as written. If you have any questions about the program and how it’s used, please contact your HR Business Partner.

Verification of Employment Requests

Verification of Employment (VOE) is a process used to review and verify employment history or income. This information is often used by banks, mortgage lenders, and government agencies for things like: Public Student Loan Forgiveness, Social Security, mortgage applications, rental applications, etc.

The Shared Services Center handles all VOE services for past and present employees, including those from the Ann Arbor, Flint, and Dearborn campuses, the health system, retirees, and temporary employees.

Employees and/or external entities can submit a VOE request by visiting the Verification of Employment page and using the appropriate request form or contact The Shared Services Center directly with questions.
