Common Password for Michigan Medicine Employees

HITS has launched UMICH Common Password allowing users to sync their UMICH (Level-1) and Michigan Medicine (Level-2) passwords. After syncing you will only need to use your UMICH (Level-1) password to login across U-M and Michigan Medicine systems.

As a part of the UMICH common password project, new employees will only need to set a UMICH (Level 1) password beginning Wednesday, April 3.

Please see link above about syncing your password or contact HITS with questions.

May 2024 Sell Back

Please Mark Your Calendars!

The annual PTO Sell Back program allows non-bargained employees to request a pay out of their available PTO bank hours (up to maximum allowed) according to the U-M Health & Shared Services Paid Time Off Program Policy in either the last paycheck in January or May (not both). Refer to applicable bargaining agreements for union employees.

We recommend asking employees to submit their Sell Back Request forms no later than May 17th, 2024,to allow sufficient time for data entry and approvals (if applicable).

Enter Sell Back Hours within the following Pay Periods:

Biweekly: 5/12/2024 - 5/25/2024

Monthly: 5/1/2024 – 5/31/2024

Payroll Data Entry & Approval Deadlines @ 10AM:

Biweekly: May 28, 2024

Monthly: May 23, 2024

If Sell Back hours are not reported before the appropriate payroll cut-off, report the hours as a prior period adjustment in the appropriate pay period (noted above) and allow the hours to pay out on the following paycheck, whenever possible.

Be sure to review the links below for program details including other sell back programs by employee type.

Employees eligible to sell back PTO:

  • U-M Health Non-union employees
  • Employees covered under the following collective bargaining agreements:
    • AFSCME - American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO
    • UMPNC – University of Michigan Professional Nurse Council
    • UPAMM – United Physician Assistants of Michigan Medicine

Employees not eligible:

  • Employees who participated in January PTO Sell Back of same year.
  • Non-union employees with job titles in “ungraded pay zones”
  • Employees in their probationary period
  • Campus or Medical School employees (non-union) with Vacation & Sick plans

Employees must remain on an eligible PTO plan for the entire pay period of the paycheck hours are paid out on to remain eligible for the payout.

If employees transferred into your department between January and May, you will need to verify that they didn’t participate in the PTO Sell Back in January with their previous department.

There are three ways you can verify if an employee sold hours in the January Sell Back (PTB):

  1. Review the December - April timesheet(s).
  2. Review the paychecks/gross pay for December-April.
  3. Run the MTL_TRC_BY_GROUP query in M-Pathways using a begin date of 12/1/2023-present.
