SEIU Shift Premiums
A previous Timekeeping & Pay Update sent December 20, 2024, included information about shift premium rules for SEIU members that went into effect on January 5, 2025.
SEIU members who work straight afternoons or night shifts are to be paid shift premiums on all hours worked and all paid time off.
SEIU members who work day shift or rotate between days and afternoons or nights are to receive shift premiums only on shifts that are worked.
Changes to the Weekend Automation Rules are required so that the Straight Afternoon/Night workers and the Day Shift/Rotator workers are handled appropriately.
The Weekend Premium Automation rules do the following:
- Weekend Day Shift automation: Adds Weekend Day Shift for hours reported on a weekend and has no other shift premium code reported
- Afternoon & Night Shift Premium code “Flips”: Flips the afternoon/night codes (ESA/NSA, ESB, NSB) to the weekend versions when reported on a weekend.
In order to distinguish between the straight afternoon/night workers and the day/rotator workers in the system for the automation rule, timekeepers need to:
• Assign the “STRSHFT-DFLT” schedule to those that are the straight Afternoon/Night shift workers
• Assign the schedule effective 1/19/2025 before the next biweekly payroll cut-off on 2/4/25.
Instructions for adding a schedule are available on MyLinc:
- View and Assign a Work Schedule for an Employee
- Assign A Work Schedule to an Ad Hoc Group
Alternatively, if all the Weekend Codes are reported, the assigned schedule is not necessary:
If all of the weekend premiums (e.g., WSD, WSE, WSN…) are reported directly (without relying on the automation) the “STRSHFT-DFLT” schedule does not need to be assigned as directed above, as the automation will not be needed.
Service Employees International Union (SEIU) – Premium Codes
Team Lead pay (LED) of $1.00 per hour for all hours worked when assigned team leader or charge. This is intended only for those employees whose lead job duties are not a part of their classification.
Float Pay (FLC) of $2.00 per hour on all paid time for those employees who are designated by management as a float employee. Does not apply to those not designated as a float employee who occasionally float to another unit.
Trainer Pay (TPP) of $1.00 per hour while training another employee in the job classification (clinical or administrative). Trainers are designated by management. The Trainer Pay premium is not intended for employees with training responsibilities included in their job description.
Float Bonus:
For those designated floats appointed to CSR an automated rule will apply the float bonus code for all hours paid.
For those who have designated float SEIU members outside of CSR, the float bonus code (FLC) must be manually reported on the timesheet.
The chart below are all the codes eligible for the float bonus.
