Faculty & Staff Awards

Michigan Medicine is pleased to announce the Faculty & Staff Award Program. The purpose of the Faculty & Staff Award program is to acknowledge and celebrate those who demonstrate exceptional accomplishment in the areas of teaching, research, clinical care, community service, technology, leadership, teamwork and administration. Faculty recipients will receive $2,500 in discretionary support. Staff will receive a $2,500 prize.

Eligibility

  • The nominee(s) must be a regular Michigan Medicine employee.

Process for Nomination

  • Complete submission of nomination by Thursday, August 10, 2023
  • Please review award category criteria and ensure that all required documents are complete and accurate. 
  • Provide specific examples of how the nominee has met the criteria for the selected award category.

Selection Process

There is a two-stage selection process. The selection committee will review the nominations and provide a list of potential awardees to the Faculty & Staff Steering Committee, who makes the final selection in partnership with Michigan Medicine Leadership. Once the finalist have been selected and announced, they'll be awarded at the Faculty and Staff Award Reception.

About the Awards

The Basic Science Research Award recognizes a faculty member or group of faculty members who exhibit outstanding basic science research.

The Clinical & Health Services Research Award recognizes a faculty member or group of faculty members who exhibit outstanding clinical research.

The Community Service Award recognizes a faculty, staff, or group of faculty and staff members who have contributed to our community in an extraordinary fashion.

The Distinguished Faculty Lectureship Award in Biomedical Research recognizes a faculty member who has shown long-term contributions of biomedical research, teaching and service to the University of Michigan.

The Technology & Innovation Award recognizes a faculty, staff, or group of faculty and staff members who have developed a new research method, technology or innovative service that will radically improve or transform patient health.

The Lifetime Achievement Award in Medical Education recognizes a faculty member or group of faculty members who have contributed significantly to medical education.

The Outstanding Clinician/Lifetime Achievement in Clinical Care Award recognizes exemplary performance as a practicing clinician or program leader of innovation in clinical care.

The Excellence in Patient Care Award recognizes staff members with at least 10 years of outstanding service to patients and families as demonstrated by direct recognition from patients, families, or fellow team members.

The Outstanding Leadership Award recognizes staff members who demonstrate superb leadership as well as exceptional operational excellence and stewardship of the resources of the University of Michigan and/or Medical School.

The Big Heart Award recognizes staff members who have shown unwavering support for their coworkers and who go above and beyond to assist their fellow colleagues.

The Michigan Medicine Core Values Award recognizes faculty and staff who model an exceeding level of caring, innovation, inclusion, integrity, and teamwork.
