This week’s negotiation session saw continued, though gradual, progress. We are pleased to share that we have reached tentative agreements regarding Bereavement Leave and the UH South Wellness Center, and we expect to formalize a tentative agreement on Vacation intended to enhance and support House Officer wellness at our next meeting.
The parties continued to have constructive dialogue about several key issues that directly impact the House Officer experience. A number of proposals and counterproposals were reviewed this week, including those related to paid parental leave, paid sick time, reimbursements for recertifications, information technology, and assignment of on-call shifts. Though further discussion is needed around paid parental leave, we remain confident of reaching an agreement that is compassionate, aligned with the existing Standard Practice Guide, and supportive of a successful training experience. We appreciate the HOA’s collaboration on this and all matters.
We continue to look for solutions that both support the wellness and professional growth of House Officer and are aligned with our need for flexibility in operations, patient care, data security, and our Guiding Principles. We look forward to our next bargaining session on March 2.
