U-M Health Timekeepers & Approvers Weekly Update: Thursday, Sept 7, 2022

Happy National Payroll Week!

Today we CELEBRATE all the hard work, due diligence and effort in making sure employees are paid correctly and on time! It takes all of us working together to succeed.

Ensuring employees are accurately paid supports our values of Integrity, Teamwork, and Inclusion at Michigan Medicine and our Mission “to advance health, to serve Michigan and the world”. You do that! Everyday!

These current times are challenging us all to be resilient, to remember to take care of ourselves and each other, and to be innovative as we manage and sustain change in our daily lives. You have risen to that challenge and you have supported each other along the way. Thank you for that!

Please take time to celebrate YOU today and all week. Take a walk, call a friend, cook a healthy meal to enjoy and share, and get good sleep. All these things contribute to your well-being and the well-being of our families and communities.

You are amazing! The work you do is important and appreciated so much. Let’s Take Good Care of Ourselves & Each Other!

Reporting Monthly Time

The weekly view on the Enter Time page for monthly paid employees is causing some confusion and inaccurate time reporting because:

  • The 1st day of the week displayed is not Sunday it is the 1st of the month and start of the pay period
    • Example: The month of September 2022 starts on a Thursday (see screenshot below)

Holiday Time Reporting

Time Reporting for holiday weeks typically brings many questions about how to report time for different scenarios. The U-M Health Payroll Team has Holiday time reporting presentation videos and guides you can print out to help you through this sometimes very busy and tricky time reporting season.

There are many different rules to be aware of for the different types of employees at U-M Health from our bargained for, temporary, non-bargained for, and exempt vs. non-exempt staff groups. No matter how long you have been in a timekeeper or approver role it helps to review the training information to re-familiarize yourself with all the different rules.
