Nurses represented by the University of Michigan Professional Nurses Council (UMPNC) have voted to approve a four-year contract with University of Michigan Health.

The competitive employment agreement provides a four-year, $273 million package that includes a 22.5% raise over the course of the contract, a $5,000 bonus for each nurse, elimination of mandatory overtime and expanded staffing guidelines.

Over the past three months, representatives from Michigan Medicine and MNA/UMPNC have been meeting to negotiate a new contract for nurses at Michigan Medicine. Our hope is that we can reach an agreement very soon to limit the disruption of having an expired contract. The current contract expired on June 30, 2022. Earlier this week, the Michigan Medicine bargaining team met with representatives from the Michigan Nurses Association/University of Michigan Professional Nurse Council to begin negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement. The goal for Michigan Medicine is to work collaboratively with MNA/UMPNC representatives to develop a new contract that continues supporting our nurses as they provide the highest quality and safest care for our patients.
